Psalm 19:14 reminder

I am facing a time in the very near future where I will have to have a “difficult conversation” with someone.  With the jobs I have had and the environments I have volunteered in, this is not the first difficult conversation I have had to initiate, nor will it be the last.  But, I am recognizing that they don’t get any easier just because you’ve had some experience with them.  Each one is unique to the situation and every person responds differently.  I find that my heart is burdened over the wording for this one in particular.  It’s easier in a job situation because expectations are different and a little more spelled out than those found in a volunteer position.  When you approach volunteering, everyone has their own expectations on what is acceptable, expected, and wanted from them.  Even if you are meeting your own expectations, there can still be an issue with others involved.

With this on my heart and mind, God has laid a particular Psalm on my heart as well.

“May the words of my mouth and meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.” ~Psalm 19:14

I love Psalm 19 (and really want to do a study through it soon…maybe tonight even), but that God would bring me here at this time is so comforting.  The majority of the chapter is praise to God as creator and ruler.  It tells us why God is worthy of our praise and devotion.  It is in the last couple verses that we see the prayer of that devotion, ended with this verse.  God has placed me in a position of leadership for a reason and within that reason, he has adequately equipped me to handle difficult situations.  He knows that my heart is burdened over the impending conversation, but he is reminding me that as I continue to seek him, he will in fact direct my words and prepare the other person’s heart for this conversation.

In the end, it is in the little everyday things that I am reminded of how big my God is and how desperately blessed I am that he loves me and cares about me.
